National Museum of Denmark (Nationalmuseet)

From ancient times, all archaeological findings in Denmark have belonged to the king, and more recently to the state. The finest of these are to be found at the National Museum of Denmark, which has a permanent Viking room containing jewellery, weapons, ritual objects and objects relating to the day-to-day lives of the Vikings.

Description

The National Museum contains some of the most important historical artifacts from Danish history – for example, the Trundholm sun chariot and the Gundestrup cauldron, both dating from the early Bronze Age, and the Egtved girl, who was recovered from a bog. The museum also houses a large ethnographic collection of objects from around the world.
